South sea pearls are one of the costliest types of pearls, used in jewellery. These precious stones are very rare and unique, which contribute to the price. They are found generally found in Australia and China, which have fresh and nutrient-rich water. 

The striking feature of the pearls is that they are larger than the average pearls and distinctly white or silver. The average height of this pearls is 12 to 13mm, this is mainly because oyster of o this pearl stone is larger than the freshwater pearl.

  • Black south pearls: They are cultivated in the black-lipped oysters. These large pearls are one of the most precious forms of pearl, which has peacock green undertone. Rich navy blue, plum or dark green are other tones of these pearls.
  • Golden south sea pearls: These are the rarest and valuable of all the pearls. They come in a wide range of hues like champagne, bright gold, and soft glowing cream.

Just like other stones, few factors like pearl shape, lustre, surface, size and similarity play a major role in deciding the price. South sea pearls are round and surprisingly versatile, timeless and modern at the same time. 

Since these precious stones are very expensive, so they need to be bought from a genuine dealer. It is important because, since there are many fake pearls available in the market, individuals need to be safe and not cheated for the fake ones.
